Riverdale Flowers grows premium specialty cuts on the equatorial highlands of Kenya — where elevation, climate, and craft produce flowers that local and international clients specifically seek out.

A farm built on the belief that where you grow matters as much as what you grow.

Riverdale Flowers was established in the Aberdares with a clear purpose: to grow specialty cut flowers that go beyond commodity. Where most Kenyan flower farms cluster in the lower Rift Valley, we chose higher ground — deliberately.

At 2,400 metres, our crops experience cooler nights that slow cellular development and produce denser, longer-lasting blooms. The intense equatorial sun at altitude drives deeper colour saturation. The clean highland air and volcanic-influenced soils add a vitality to our stems that is immediately apparent to any experienced buyer.

We grow six carefully selected specialty varieties — Eryngium, Nigella, Moluccella, Craspedia, Limonium, and Crocosmia — chosen for their demand in local and international markets and their particular suitability to our growing conditions.

    Every hectare we farm operates under GLOBALG.A.P. certification — the world's most widely implemented farm assurance framework, and our GGN is publicly verifiable. It covers food safety, environmental sustainability, worker welfare, and full crop traceability from propagation to export.

    Worker welfare and community

    Our workforce is predominantly drawn from the surrounding Aberdares communities. We provide wages above Kenya's agricultural minimum, safe working conditions, and structured training. GLOBALG.A.P. certification requires these standards to be independently audited every year.

    Highland farming carries a particular obligation to the landscape. We practise integrated pest management, responsible water use, and ongoing soil health monitoring. Chemical inputs are strictly regulated under GLOBALG.A.P. protocols. Our goal is a farm that performs better in twenty years than it does today.

The farm is supported by a natural freshwater dam within the property, providing a reliable and low-impact source of irrigation. It lets us reduce dependency on external water systems while keeping crops consistently hydrated through the year.
